Lumbar Spinal Imaging in Radicular Pain and Related Conditions: Understanding Diagnostic Images in a Clinical Context
[ReviewAZON asin="354093829X"]
A general consensus exists, that lumbosacral nerve root compression is the primary cause of sciatica and neurogenic claudication, although humoral and vascular factors certainly play a role as well. This book focuses on imaging the various ways in which nerve root compression can come about, and determining which anatomic features are reliably associated with the production of radicular pain. After a discussion of the nature of radicular pain and related symptoms, spinal imaging techniques and options are reviewed, with emphasis on the role of MR myelography in assessing the intradural nerve roots. A chapter on normal topographic, sectional, and functional radiologic anatomy is followed by presentations on pathologic anatomy, addressing mechanisms of nerve root compression, and on pre- and postoperative imaging. Features relevant to prediction of the natural history are discussed, and a section is devoted to the performance and reporting of a spinal imaging study.

Conquer Back and Neck Pain: Walk It Off! A Spine Doctor’sProven Solutions For Finding Relief Without Pills or Surgery
[ReviewAZON asin="1934716014"]Every human being suffers from back pain at some point in life. In an effort to find relief, people turn to a wide variety of treatments, and to doctors who will prescribe narcotic painkillers. What they don t realize is that many of these treatments -- especially narcotic drugs -- actually interfere with their body s own ability to heal and overcome pain. When these treatments fail to help, they desperately conclude that surgery is their only option for relief.
In his new book Conquer Back and Neck Pain: Walk It Off!, renowned spine surgeon Dr. Mark Brown, MD, PhD, explains exactly what causes back pain and why humans are so predisposed to spinal problems. He provides a detailed questionnaire that allows you to identify which of seven types of back pain you are experiencing, and then he explains each of those types in clear and easy-to-understand language.
Contrary to what you might expect from a spinal surgeon, Dr. Brown actually advocates against turning to surgery in most cases of spinal pain. In his 35 years of experience, he has found that the vast majority of back pain cases will resolve with minimal treatment. In fact, the very best thing you can do is to simply allow your body to heal itself by avoiding the many treatment pitfalls that people with back pain commonly fall into when looking for relief. Avoiding these mistakes, along with incorporating gentle aerobic exercise, will almost always allow you to walk off your back or neck pain naturally.
With an interesting collection of anecdotes and a frank discussion of the pitfalls that come with many of the back-pain treatments out there, Conquer Back and Neck Pain: Walk It Off! will give you fresh, new insight into how your back really works and how to finally find healthy relief from your back pain.[/ReviewAZON] Read more »
